The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program trains people in neighborhoods, the workplace, and schools in basic disaster response skills such as fire safety, light search and rescue, and disaster medical operations. CERT helps members take a more active role in emergency preparedness.

There is a free training class that requires 20 hours of your time. There are additional training classes that can be taken online that will increase your understanding of the Incident Command System (ICS) when there is a disaster. You can also choose to be placed on a team that may get called out to serve when a disaster strikes.
